Dr. Travis Kendall received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Ohio State University in 2008, graduating at the top of his class. He then bought his first practice in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California, and a year later acquired a second practice in the same area. Over the next eight years, Dr. Kendall and his team built these locations into highly successful practices. In 2012, he completed an additional year of training at Miami Valley Hospital, and in 2016, he became a Master of the College of Sedation. He’s one of only a few hundred dentists in the state of Texas licensed to administer I.V. sedation. He has and continues to take hundreds of hours of continuing education in dental implants and technology, and has successfully placed over 1,000 dental implants to-date. He credits much of his success to the love and support of his wife Jennifer.
Dr. Travis Kendall grew up with various dental issues, meaning he had to undergo a lot of different dental treatments. Even though he’s a dentist now, he admits he really didn’t like visiting the dentist for a long time. But it’s this understanding of how many people feel about visiting the dentist that makes him so great at what he does. It allows him to be the most empathetic dentist you might ever meet.
There are many people out there who may have experienced discomfort, pain, and even humiliation after even just a single trip to the dentist. People are afraid of being hurt again, embarrassed further, and most of all, being out of control of the situation when they sit in that chair. Many dentists simply aren’t aware of these kinds of feelings in their patients because they’ve either had very little dental work done themselves, or have been fortunate enough to never feel severe pain or embarrassment from dental work.
Dr. Kendall fully understands what each of his patients are feeling at any given moment, which is why he works so hard to make sure they understand how sedation dentistry can help them. He’s gone through extensive education and training to be the very best at administering, monitoring, and understanding I.V. sedation, and relays that information to his patients by way of safe and caring practice. He wants them to know that even under sedation, the patient is in complete control of the situation, able to interact and communicate freely with the team whenever they feel the need. But the best part is, even though you’re alert enough to be in control, you’re relaxed enough to not feel the stress and anxiety of sitting in that chair.
Dr. Kendall’s pledge is to always put the patient first, because his experience has led him to empathize with what many of them are going through.
